We all knew it would be bad but not as bad as it ended up

Remove the lights at Station Rd as they are not needed and either replace the lights at Tesco/Station Approach with a roundabout or leave the lights green through Packhorse Rd unless traffic is coming from Tesco or the station. |

Actually I think the lights work fine, except when the Station Road pedestrian lights change and stops the flow of traffic. This causes a tail back past the Station Approach junction and can cause those leaving the station to miss their "turn".
The answer may be to only let the pedestrian lights go red when the station approach lights are green, allowing for 4/5 cars to fill the gap between the station and the lights.

There is no need for lights at station road as people can cross by the main tesco junction.
I have sat a few times on Packhorse road heading toward Gold Hill at red lights at the teaco junction with not a single car approaching from Tesco or Station Approach. Far from fine |

Packhorse Road is chaos tonight because of another smash and grab at the jewellers just up from Santucci (opposite Martins? newsagents).
Police cars everywhere, jewellers cordoned off, big hole in window.
Has just taken ages to get through GX with everyone rubber-necking.

Every morning I turn right from Station Rd into Packhorse Road to travel back in to St. Peters.
At least 10 times now I have either witnessed, or been involved in, someone travelling along Packhorse towards Slough who doesn't see the lights are red. There was nearly a very bad smash on Monday morning for this very reason. I can only assume that the reason they don't see the lights are red is because there is only 1 set of lights by this junction on Packhorse- on the RHS. The cars are on the LHS, but the lights are on the RHS. There is a pole on the LHS, with no lights, but this is purely for pedestrians. It is either for this reason, or because a car has stopped at the pedestrian lights, which subsequently turned green so they think they can just drive off, forgetting that the Station Road lights might be against them. Anyway folks - take care if you are coming out of Station Rd - you cannot assume that a Green Light means it is safe to turn in to Packhorse. |
