I hear that advertising boards are currently being sold for attachment to the wall, supposedly to 'help local businesses"!

Why sold? By selling the spaces. It's now the shopkeepers paying to tidy up the wall

It's a free country, adopt whatever PC stance you want. Just don't tell me which stance I should take just because it clashes with your opinion. |

If only they had a nearby shop front which advertised their wares just as well or better.
How absurd.

They would need planning permission for that. Surely the council did not grant this?

Council told me it is being painted, add trellis and trail plants down. No room for advertising boards as trees are in the way. They are not removing the trees

The trees are not in the way, the boards could quite easily be attached to the wall - I hope not, it would be a horrible sight to see advertising boards plastered on one side of Market Place.

I heard it from someone in advertising sales but wouldn't they need planning permission first?
