Hi, does anyone know when and which footpaths are being closed when HS2 starts? I'm guessing at most of the ones round the NSE but wish to know for sure.  Also be interested to know whether the main one from St Giles to Amersham is affected.  If anyone has a link to a map maybe?

Newland Park development looks like it is going ahead from September (where is the school going - the new building in Maple Cross?) so hopefully still be able to use those footpaths too.

The new school in Maple Cross is a free school that has been operating in Watford area for the past 3(?) years. The school at Newland Park, despite being on a 7 year lease, was given notice to quit by September just before half term. Could move to Crown House in Wuycombe but "several irons are in the fire" for something more local

If anyone is interested, I received this letter about the Chesham Lane HS2 site just after they started.

Doesn't the ecology and habitat pdf rather miss the point?  A few HGV movements, some mud on road that will be cleaned up, work to finish by end of May 2018. All very sweet and good for nature blah blah. Who would get very upset about that?

But isn't this where the intervention shaft is going? HS Poo is 60m underground here so they'll have to excavate to 70m minimum. And a 15m x 15m minimum cross-section? (just guessing). That's getting on for 16,000 cubic metres of soil and rock to get rid of. Plus all the construction equipment and materials going to site.  Rather more than 'a few HGV movements' I think.  And completion by end of May 2018? I think not.

sad to say i have to agree, the numbers, sums and statistics for Hs2 just seem to be numbers plucked out of thin air, - i remember being in a presentation about the soil and spoil from excavations in the chilterns going london bound by rail to be  deposited in and around the brakespear road area of harefield/ ickenham, raising ground level by meters....

is this still happening ?
need a stella and i need one now !
